My Name is Gauhar Jaan (Chaudhuri)

Gauhar Jaan was one of India’s first recorded singers and sang in the ‘light classical’ tradition. She was of Armenian descent, and her actual name was Angelina Yeoward. Many of her 78 rpm records end with her proclamation: ‘My name is Gauhar Jaan’, the prompt for the composition of this song.
